Welcome to the Customer Network Management for the X-WiN

The national backbone (X-WiN) of Germany`s National Research and Education Network DFN-Verein is the heart of "the Internet for science in Germany". It comprises over 50 networknodes which are under the responsibility of the DFN-Verein and it links over 550 german universities and research institutions.

To give all institutions (users) that are connected to the X-WiN an insight into the general state of the network as well as into the exact data for their own link the DFN-Verein provides a Customer Network Management system. All users get access to this system automatically.

For the IP service DFNInternet the CNM contains the following applications for the users:

• Data Volume: With the help of this application the users can track how much IP traffic they have send or received via their X-WiN link. This application is completely implemented and is available for all users.
• Topology: With the support of this application the users can get current information about the status of the X-WiN. In addition, it is possible to get historic data. This application is since April 2004 available to all customers.
